Jagratha Samithi
Jagratha Samithi is a protection platform functioning vigilantly at the local level to ensure the rights, physical and mental well-being, and life security of women and children. It aims to prevent violence, rights violations, and social exclusion against them.
Jagratha Samithis function urgently in matters requiring immediate intervention in the locality. The committees can also work by utilizing the legal protection mechanisms and systems available for women and children in cases and issues that were neglected due to the absence of various committees.
- Protect the rights of women and children and ensure strong interventions and arrangements for remedies against violence, discrimination, injustice, exploitation, and denial faced by them.
- Receive complaints involving women and children and provide solutions through immediate interventions or support mechanisms.
- Forward complaints and issues that cannot be resolved by the Jagratha Samithi to the District Jagratha Samithi, Women’s Commission, other government systems, and legal aid agencies, and ensure follow-up actions.
- Coordinate government agencies and schemes for the protection of women and girls and integrate the activities of similar agencies with the Jagratha Samithi.
- Implement activities to create a social environment free from issues against women and children.
